# Risen Christ on the Lake of Gennesaret

Painted in the second half of the 17th century by the master of Flemish Baroque genre and sacred narrative painting David Teniers the Younger (1610–1690), *Risen Christ on the Lake of Gennesaret* (also titled *The Miraculous Draught of Fishes*, Polish: *Chrystus Zmartwychwstały nad jeziorem Genezaret*, Inventory No. MNKi/M/1759) is a sacred coastal masterpiece in oil on panel measuring 69.5 cm × 87.5 cm (27.4 in × 34.4 in).

Preserved across distinguished European ecclesiastical and noble collections, it is housed today in the celebrated permanent collection of the National Museum in Kielce, Poland.

Finally, the visual trajectory moves toward the straining fishermen hauling the heavy net of glistening cod and flatfish, before ascending past the boat's brown sail toward the cliffside fortress and the majestic diagonal rays of sun bursting through the violet-gray clouds.
