Completed in 1895 by the French painter Louis Marie de Schryver, this masterpiece was executed in oil on canvas and is preserved in the Musée de Cambrai in France. The artist meticulously captured the quiet dignity and daily labor of a street vendor pushing a vegetable cart along the avenues of Paris. To convey the vivid textures of fresh cabbage, leeks, and apples in the foreground alongside the gentle ambient light of the city, Schryver masterfully blended rich oil painting techniques with Impressionistic tonal sensitivity.
