# 안개 경보 (광어 잡이) - The Fog Warning (Halibut Fishing)

Completed in 1885 by Winslow Homer (1836–1910), a towering titan of American Realism and marine art, this masterwork in oil is housed in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Rendered in oil on canvas, the dramatic horizontal painting measures approximately 76.8 cm in height by 122.9 cm in width.

Homer skillfully captured the perilous swells of the North Atlantic and the ominous descent of sea fog through a mastery of textured impasto and sharp tonal modulation. The churning, slate-gray waves are sculpted with thick paint layers to establish physical weight and motion, contrasted by the brilliant white crests fracturing against the dory’s wooden hull.
